The Feast of Booths is an exciting time of year. I love spending time outside in the cool air. Talking with friends. Eating out. This is a time to remember God’s provision. We rejoice in God’s constant care. As the psalmist says, “God opened his hand to supply the need of every living thing.” On the Feast of Booths God commands His people to live in booths. Leviticus 22:42-43: “You shall live in booths seven days; all citizens in Israel shall live in booths in order that future generations may know that I made the Israelite people live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I the LORD your God.” It is also customary to invite guests into your booth. Some guests are historical such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joseph, and King David. Some are of more recent vistage.
As a group of Christians committed to Crossing Borders and Building Understanding we look forward to the Jewish year 5778 as an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with old friends and make new friends. We welcome all to join us in this endeavor! Come for a light snack, coffee, and juice as we share our passion and plans for the future at an informational meeting at the Learning Resource Center, 355O Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday October 15, at 2:00 pm.
Happy Sukkot and may God bring guests to share your booth. “Now the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. When he lifted up his eyes and looked, behold three men were standing opposite him;”
